Tomato Basil Spread & Herby Turkey Sandwich

have you ever had Breuggar's Bagel's Herby Turkey sandwich? it is so SO good. so good that I have created this blog post here filled with not only a recipe for a copy-cat version of the Herby Turkey, but also one for the Tomato Basil Spread that they smear onto the sandwich.

so what is it, you ask? an everything bagel sliced in half and toasted. one half is smeared with onion and chive cream cheese, the other with the tomato basil spread. then you've got layers of turkey + red onion + lettuce smooshed in between. all of that layering. it is filled with all of the flavors in every bite.

[in the photo below I made the sandwich on a Challah bun because I didn't have a bagel]

you can use the Tomato Basil Spread on sandwiches/burgers, you can dip veggies into it as a dip and/or you could even smear it onto crackers or bread.


Yields: approximately 1 cup Prep Time: 5 minutes


6 oz. tomato paste

2 cloves garlic

5 large basil leaves

½ cup plain Greek yogurt

1 tsp. dried oregano

½ tsp. Kosher salt

¼ tsp. sugar

freshly ground black pepper

2 Tbsp. olive oil


Add all of the ingredients, except olive oil, to the base of a food processor and pulse until smooth.

With the food processor still running, add the 2 Tbsp. olive oil.

Transfer to an airtight container and keep in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.



1 everything bagel, toasted

1-2 Tbsp. Tomato Basil spread

1-2 Tbsp. onion & chive cream cheese

4 slices deli turkey, thinly sliced

red onion, thinly sliced

iceberg lettuce


Slice your bagel in half and lightly toast it.

Spread the tomato basil spread on one half and cream cheese on the other.

Layer the turkey, red onion and lettuce in between to the halves of bagel and enjoy!
